Zombies?
They are supposedly in a non-fiction world controlled by a parasite that spreads over the neural systems, allowing full control over the body and allows for body function without even the head (as the parasite works over the nervous system as a whole)
The brain of the body is however dead and so are all internal organs.
The reason why zombies hunger for flesh is unknown as they can not digest it and will just sit and rot in the stomach (fat/exploding zombies)

I read a zombie survival hand book :P

ok but there are many different types of virus' that make zombies but one realistic sounding zombie virus would be mutated strand of rabies. this make the victem lose controll and atack things (much like a rabid dog except human and would be a devistating event to occur in a city)
