Ah the wedingo possessions xD Back in canada a native man murdered and ate his family, when caught he claimed to have been possesed by an evil spirit called the wedingo. After he was executed, a string of cannibalism hit the area.
Also wedingo syndrome (sometimes named zombie syndrome) is a condition in which the victim is obsessed with the consumption of human flesh and is driven to satisfy it.
You're thinking about certain bacterial infections caused by eating infected meat xD Really quite closely related to mad cow disease.

Go eat human brains then and see how well you fair, because that's what causes the syndrome I didn't remember the exact name and didn't feel like looking up but since I knew about windigos since I read a lot of mythology and about mental illnesses as a hobby/pass time I was relating it to windigos

Correction; You can obtain it through the eating of the brain (Brain and spinal cord are always the most contaminated) but only if the brain is contaminated- The disease is similar to Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy. Causes the brain and nervous tissue to become spongy... Severe loss of motor skills, dementia, delirium, and death are all common afects of this. But the disease can be found in all tissue of an infected individual. Wendigo syndrome is a psychological disorder without known cause, likely a severe form of dementia.

Your taking what I say way to literal, of course you can get it from eating anything but thats like saying you can put a fire out with a bucket of water and a squirt gun, of course you can with both but the squirt gun wont be very effective
