Is this something to be sad about?
« on: September 06, 2015, 02:18:03 PM »
Edit: this is over, but me and my "friends" are still at odd ends with each other

I invited my three friends over to my house for a sleepover. And the entire day they have been playing video games and playing and drawing, etc with each other(excluding me) and I feel they aren't even noticing me. Should I be feeling depressed due to this? Or am I crazy?   :'(

It's happened to me before, usually means respect hasn't been made yet, but it usually doesn't exist until much later in life. Not much you can really do about it, except get visibly upset or angry about it and hope they care. More often than not though, they might not. Depends on how much they depend upon you and how long you have known them.

I've actually known them for some time. And I have been trying to tell them I'm sad but they ignore it.

That's pretty ridiculous

Are they actively excluding you or can you join in?

Before yoh get to the point of inviting several people to your home, try to see who they are as people, rather than as a group. Sometimes the people you meet will be... undesirable... and the best thing to do would be to simply move on. At least, in my opinion.

If you assume that every person you meet will be just like the ones before them, then you won't meet anyone that could be a really good friend in the future.

True, but 2 of my friends are really nice and now that they're hanging out with the third one, they started acting like big tough jerks.

Pull them aside, and let them know how you feel. Don't let it fester over time.

You have every right to be angry at the situation. If you invite friends over and they ignore you and do other thing without you then they are just using you. Real friends wouldn't neglect each other. If I were you I would either (depending how they react to things) kick them out and not hang out with them or just let them have their fun but not talk to them after that. Before doing that though, try asking if they would like to do something that you want to do since you invited them over and if they blow you off then they are not true friends and are just using you to do whatever, like playing games they may not have.

I have friends that I have stay over at and we were really comfortable doing our own thing, but enjoying each other's presence.  I'd like to say that's how your friends feel but I suspect not.

*hugs*

If you've tried talking to them without success, you might have to be a control freak with every cool thing in your house until they play nice.

Good luck!

Thats totally not ok for them to do especially if theyre over at YOUR house, Im sorry you have not so great friends. If theyre treating you like that and actively excluding you theyre probably just using you unfortunately. But you can alwayse try to make better new better friends by being the real you and not following trends and stuff because it "makes you cool". I really hope you make some better friends that care about you. Also *gives you a big hug* cause you deserve to be appreciated :)
