Extreme Censorement in Animes now in Japan
« on: September 23, 2007, 04:08:28 PM »
Bad News:
Who wanted to see the last episode of the anime "School Days" got sure suprised. The 12 episode got replaced with a advertisment. Two days later were confronted the fans of the series of "Higurashi NO naku koro ni dock" likewise with the fact that the radiant emittance up to further with consequence 11 is frozen and instead of its ending the cookingshow "Goku Uma KING Gourmet First Star!" to see is. What happened? In the last years in this country general sensitization of the parents generation took place approximately to children and young person arranged media, which contains force. Events like the killing spree of Emsdetten the negative tendency and led finally among other things to a broad self censorship of the German television landscape in the reference to force representations in the child/youth program. This Animefans got particularly clearly to feel, which in series e.g. Conan or Naruto with strongly cut or edited material were confronted. Whether generally cutting or retouching of any blood out is, the transformation of wine in water or the distance of cigarettes and to deep cutouts meaningful, and/or to the goal leads, is once undecided. Apart from the censorship of force in the German youth program and the well-known strong censorship of sexually related contents in the USA, Japan was for in this connection comparatively a loose handles up to now admits. After on 18 September into KYOTANABE, Kyoto a police officer was attacked and killed by its daughter with an axe, seizes now in addition, the Japanese remotelong to the censorship. First TV Kanagawa reacted and stopped the radiant emittance of the last episode of "School Days". This Anime is based on a computer game around a student triangle relationship, which has about 20 different possible endings. One of these alternative ends contains a school girl that attacks a victim with a measurer. As a speaker of TV Kanagawa communicated contained also the last consequence of "School Days" a violent representation of a school girl, which already colors black blood  had been defused. After the current events one decided however to do without the radiant emittance completely. The satellite transmitter AT-X, which offers excluding Animes for over-15-year old, considers still, to radiate the episode. Meanwhile also different transmitters reacted. Thus Chiba television Broadcasting and Aichi television Broadcasting likewise did without the radiant emittance of the episode.

In addition the series of "Higurashi no naku koro ni kai" was stopped for being a series about mystery killingseries, after consequence 11. One can quite welcome that itself the medium landscape in Japan endeavors to show sympathy at the events in Kyoto. However the reactions of the media and the policy in Japan, exactly as in Germany rather a actionistic taste, have because like also here, are there substantially crueler force representations than those, were now censored further freely available. It remains hoping that now not also in Japan an extensive censorship broad-makes itself. Because like the local discussion around censorship in Animes and computer games, is extremely complicated it showed, if impossible, from covered, actionistic did not even cause meaningful protection of children and young people cleanly and clearly high-speed shots to separate.

Sorry if my english isn't the best. ^^;

The only problem is that society often needs an 'event' to prove something needs to be done. And often the decisions based on emotions caused from those 'events' don't make thinking very clear, so society as a whole may not make the right decision. If parents haven't learned by now: Children will do what they see... "leading by example" are the choice words for this since now most parents leave their children in the care of the Internet and Television.

Often times groups take advantage of these "events" to push their agenda.
It's been seen in comic books, video games, cartoons, music, dancing, general television, etc...

The main point to be stressed about that is lack of parenting.
Children may do what they see, but mostly if they've not been taught better or lack the proper supervision.
Smart kids do dumb stuff even with plenty of guidance and aren't mindless lemmings either.

In this case the cartoon became the scape goat even though it had little if anything to do with the cause of any tragic events.

True... but if you're taught 'one thing' constantly for most of your life, then someone (doesn't exactly matter who) tells you that 'one thing' was wrong, what would you be thinking? Probably that "No, you're wrong." would be the first thing to come to mind. I'm just saying that cartoons/anime are a 'way of life' for kids nowadays and they 'teach' most of the things that should be taught by those holding the status of 'parent' (legal guardians included). Don't get me wrong, not all anime/cartoons are bad... I learned how to read through them.
 :snicker:
My simple statement is knowing where reality and fantasy are and letting the upcoming generations know how to draw that line and to distenguish between the two.
