Trip to Anthrica
« on: June 28, 2015, 01:57:08 PM »
OOC: I am not sure where I would put this. It's not really a joke RP, but there are lighthearted elements to it, so I'll put it here.

It felt like another day of the weak at an anthro resident in a random sunny side town where two friends were living together as room mates in an apartment were just lounging around. The only thing different about their life was that one of the room mates, a giraffe named Trevor Watson, loved calling radio shows for prizes. Right now, he was currently on hold for another radio show. ...And it was taking forever.

"Come on, come on! I want that five-hundred bucks," Trevor blurted out.

Eventually, someone finally gave him the call back. ...But it wasn't in Trevor's favor. He had gotten an automated message saying "We're sorry, but our lines our now closed. Please try again next time." Sure enough, he had the radio on, and someone had just won the prize he was going for. Trevor slammed the phone in frustration and started surfing through radio channels. Meanwhile, his roommate was watching the whole debacle.

Uhm can you give me a cs on your character that you will be using please. Besides her being a giraffe i don't know what you are. Don't worry I'll make one too. Get the name, age, gender personality, and backstory at least. You can add other things if you want to.

(yeah sorry i thought i put it in the OOC originally but i screwed up somehow.)

Kyle was chuckling a little over the whole fiasco.

"well you win some you lose some." he joked as walked over to the fridge to grab a drink. "you ever stop to think you try these radio draws too much? From what i remember you haven't won a single one."

he leaned into the fridge trying to figure out what he should grab. there was coke-a-cola, ginger ale, and mountain dew. while leaning inside he spoke.

"maybe you should pick up another hobby or something, maybe go on a trip? those are always nice." he said.

when he finished he decided to grab a coke-a-cola. he headed back into the living room to play some video games. today was his day off and he wanted to perforate some fools with a new gun he just unlocked in his favorite shooter. he sat down on his chair and powered on the console ready to get his game on.

"Never quit or never win," Trevor responded. "That is what I always say. If I quite now, I'll never win." Trevor continued to flip through the channels and found another radio show quiz.

"Our prize this time is a rather popular tourist attraction known for it's diverse wildlife and scenery. Whoever answers this question wins a trip to Anthrica! And here is the question: This Athrican wetland bird is known for its drab brown feathers and hammer-shaped head is known by what name. Give us both it's initial name and its scientific name."

"Woah! I know this one!" Trevor shouted. Trevor quickly mashed buttons on the phone hoping to get an answer as soon as possible. Deep down, he could still hear Kyle mocking him, and he also didn't know how loud he was being.

Kyle chuckled as his roommate freaked out. He did like his determination that's for sure. He loaded up the first match. He was having a good time. Letting out whoops and hollers after every couple of kills. This new gun was amazing compared his last one. It was perfect for a replacement on the one.

OOC: Sorry, but for now I'd rather keep it to three RPers.

After a few seconds, Trevor seemed happy. Did he do it? Did he really get on?

"I'm on? ...I'm on! I'M ON! Yes!" Trevor shouted.
"Woah, calm down," the one on the phone said. "Do you know the answer?
"Ummm, what is a Hammerkop, also known as Scopus Umbretta? A wetland bird with brown feathers and a hammer shaped head."
"...Ummm... That is correct!" the man on the phone said.
"YES! I did it! I WON SOMETHING!" Trevor shouted. "THREE TICKETS TO ANTHRICA!"

Trevor's shouting was so loud it would disturb just about anyone in the apartment building, including their next door neighbor.

OOC: Trying to set up Crest.

Kyle was about to get the final kill in the match when Trevor shouted his triumph. it surprised Kyle just enough to mess up his attack and someone else got the kill and the victory. "ah well..." he muttered to himself tossing the controller on the coffee table. he sauntered over to the kitchen because he didn't quite catch what was said. "what did you win?" he asked calmly expecting it to be a few bucks or maybe one of those simple cruises. either of those would be nice because the rent needed to be paid and a cruise was always nice. but he didn't expect to be so wrong.

OOC: Crest, if you do not reply by Monday night, I'm going on without you. I'm getting kind of annoyed by trying to talk to you and then you don't say anything for days.

"Apparently the radio station said I won tickets to a place called "Anthrica," Trevor mentioned. Trevor didn't expect Kyle to enjoy that news. "That may not sound like a big deal. After all, roaming through bug infested savanahs and looking at the natural wildlife might not be something you would enjoy. But... what if I told you about all the secret locations. There are plenty of large cleanwater pools for swimming, plus waterfalls and rocks to jump off for diving, and I hear they even have temples to explore. Not to mention local villages and cuisine, which I hear are quite good. That's not even mentioning the white-water rafting locations. A trip to Anthrica may not sound like a luxury cruise, but there's a lot to do there.

Kyle heard about the trip and looked disappointed up until the temples were mentioned. After Trevor finished speaking he said. "Is there actually temples?" If yes he could finally use those whip lessons he got after watching Indiana Jones.

"Right, all we have to do is pick up the tickets and we will be off to Anthrica in no time."

It didn't take long for Trevor and Kyle to drive down to the radio station to pick their tickets up, and they were off to the airport where they caught the plane to Anthrica for their fieldtrip.

OOC: Do you just want to head there, or do you want some dialog first? Also, don't be afraid to present ideas if you have them. I don't want to feel like I'm controlling too much of the RP.
