Well, I do listen to rock sometimes, even if it's not for long. It's pretty hard to find rock songs I like though.

There's some nice melodic rock. One thing I don't like in chillstep is that it sometimes has these hard bass beats. I'm not there to listen to bass rhythm, I'm there for the music

The bass is often fairly important in chillstep songs. It's part of the calmth and intensity of the music.
One of the exceptions is the Molten Mine theme from Sonic and the Black Knight. That is actually fairly good, despite clearly being rock.

How that's calm I'm not sure. It would be calmer without it in my opinion.
It's not completely rock. Though it definitely has a rocky feeling.

I listen to pretty angry or sad songs.  People who know me are sometimes puzzled because I don't seem particularly angry.  But I tell them that is because I use the music as an outlet so I don't run my actual life being angry all the time.

Music has different effects on everyone. I find chillstep fairly relaxing, even though it can be fairly intense sometimes.
