Galen pulled a small sack of incinerator fuel from his pack. He knew that it would have its use eventually, and apparently that "eventually" was now.
He slit an opening in the tough casing, threw the contents into the roots and general base of the vines, and struck a spark from his flint and the blade of his hatchet. A bright blue blaze erupted wherever the liquid made contact. It was not the best solution, but it would definitely work. The vines started to writhe and wilt as the intense heat vaporized their internal liquids. Those who were entangled might suffer slight burns from the minute drops of fuel, which may have made contact due to their proximity to the vines and the blaze.
