((Since it's probably gonna be a bit before others pop on and I'm bored, I'mma make a lonely Geoff post wall))
Geoff woke up hopeful and content, strangely. Perhaps energized by the beauty of the glowing atmosphere. Perhaps it was foolish, but he felt very safe here.
Everyone else was still asleep. He pushed himself up to sit, wincing a little at the stress on his arms, then held the spear in both hands and rested it on his crossed legs. He smiled lightly as he surveyed it, thankful for its help during that chaos with the cannibals.
His actions back there felt like some glorified dream. There was no way a sheltered fool such as he was brave enough to leap from a tree onto a bunch of blood-thirsty lunatics. But he did. It seemed all that action changed him somewhat. He didn't feel like a ghost anymore, constantly stuck in his head and late to react to the distant outside world. Now he was alert and "on the ball", as they say.
He gazed at the bloodstained spearhead. He should probably clean all that off if he can. But maybe he should keep it, for it probably made it even more deadly for any enemies that manage to escape... Eh, that's just silly. He could use it for other things. Maybe he could try at spearing some fish in the pond...
Fish. His stomach growled. That unicorn meat they were fed was far from enough to fuel all that running and fighting, nor was it enough to heal his beat-up body.
"Aw, I know..." he spoke softly, in a tone as if calming an upset child.
Geoff walked to the pond's edge, occasionally narrating and talking to himself, which he often did whenever he was happy and no one was listening. He knelt down and repeatedly cupped water in his hand to splash on the spear and try to scrub off the blood with one of the strips from his shirt. It felt wrong to ruin the glowing pond with cannibal juice.
"It's really on there, huh...?"
He grit his teeth and scrubbed. He eventually got it as clean as it could get. He lifted the spear a tad and peered at his work.
"Good enough."
He stood up and held the spear in position to strike any fish that wander to the edge. He was about to spear one, when he realized it wasn't a normal fish, but one of those goofy colorful fish-lizard things like he caught the last time he was here, but this one was a little bigger.
A quick splash was heard nearby. He looked over to see another one had jumped out of the water. This one was smaller and had a teal diamond-shaped mark on its snout, just like the one he caught. He wondered if it was the same one.
The bigger fish-lizard suddenly leaped out of the water and lashed out at the smaller one. They circled and jumped about, making weird screeching noises and clawing at each other. Diamond-snout was trying to flee, but the other kept leaping on, slashing and gnawing at it.
"Hey!" Geoff growled and knocked the big fish-lizard off with his spear handle, minding his strength against the little thing. The creature hissed and dove back into the water.
Diamond-snout froze and looked at Geoff, tilting its head.
Geoff smiled at it. "Aw, it's no problem. No need to thank me."
He sat back down and watched the critter slowly and curiously approach as it made a quiet, rapid "bloop" noise.
It set its tiny hand on his leg and gazed up at him.
"Hi there."
Geoff carefully moved his hand closer to the critter, trying his best not to startle it, and gently pet its head with his finger. It closed its eyes and pushed its head into it, clearly enjoying the pets while making the noise.
"'Aww yeah, dat's good, dat's good'," Geoff voiced with a chuckle.
The critter crawled up on his leg and laid down. Geoff continued to pet it on the back, grinning with joy.
