So at my school there is a poetry slam which myself and a few others are participating.I have created a poem about my anger on gay hate because I myself am gay and have gone through these experiences.
Title:Why?
Why...Why?
Why is it a crime for a man to love another man?
Why is it a crime for a woman to love another woman?
Why is a tool used for love and unity such as the bible used for hate.
Why...Why?
Why do we have to hate?
Why cant we just accept each others flaws?
Why...Why do you have to poison my mind with hate?
Why is the term gay which means to be happy and cheerful used to humiliate and demean us, to hurt us.
I thought God made us all the same, you cannot judge me, only god can do that.
I thought he would still love us despite our sins.
I thought that the bible said to "Love your neighbor as yourself"
Yet you say things to me like "God hates Gays", "You will burn in Hell", and "You're unnatural"
But why, I thought you were supposed to love everyone like you love yourself.
Yet you say things like that to me and everyone like me.
Do you know what it feels like to hear "God hates you".
Do you know what it feels like to hate yourself to the point of self-harm or even suicide.
Do you know how to put on a smile to cover the hurt.
Do you know how to laugh along with a crowd so you don't stick out.
No you dont!

Just tell me why!

Is it because were different!

Is it because you don't understand us!

Is it because you just want to hate!
Why!Why!
Is it because you just not want equality.
Why...Why...
