Something ain't right.
« on: February 13, 2015, 08:17:53 PM »
I mean it's nothing serious, I'm a fully functioning 16 year old male with a very manageable genetic defect.

But that had nothing to do with what I came to you today for.
I find myself having a lack of desire to do pretty much anything. And I mean ANYTHING. Schoolwork, video games, anything. I just don't get happy anymore. I mean, it's not like I get sad or anything, which is great, but I just don't get happy. Like, I beat a level in a game that I was stuck on for a long while, and I just found myself rather nonplussed, and it didn't really big me at the time... But I dunno, I just kinda stopped giving a sh|t at about the seventh grade. Since then, my grades have been declining... But I really don't give a sh|t. I just don't. And it really bugs me.

Is there something wrong with me? What should I do to make myself care?

 FDF forever!

You're at the point where you need to start learning who you are and develop that.
On a more direct response, nothing is wrong with you.
You see where your fault is and you can then take the steps to figure out how to fix it.
The hardest part in anything is starting.
Even if that starting is burying your head in study material.

Good luck :)

Oh I've tried that, I've really tried that. It's just... Like the next day, I just stop caring. I mean, I WANT to care, I recognize there's a problem and I want to fix it.... I just don't fix it.

And that bothers me but the main thing I'm really worried about I guess is the fact that I really don't get very happy anymore. I mean sure, I want things. But like.... Most of the time I'm just tired and just not happy. I can't describe it as sad but... It definitely isn't happy.

I find working in a team helps, you are demotivated because you're sad and you're (possibly) sad because you're demotivated. If you can get working on some form of project, that involves a group, more than one person, that might help. When you're in a group, others count on you, when you don't do something you're letting others down and it generally gives you motivation to actually do the thing you want to do. Once you're actually doing something, when you see it through you feel like you've accomplished something and it makes you feel better.

I can't say definitively, but sounds like you've got a good case of Depression.

My advice:
-set small daily goals that are achievable
-eat meals regularly
-Exercise when/if possible
-socialize

Hope I help in any way!

All the advice given is appropriate.  Unless it's not XD

What you are describing is anhedonia, when ongoing (ie not just a bad week etc) it is often a symptom of many mental illnesses and conditions or drug use.

Seriously, you should try those things: social activities exercise, diet etc, but if that doesn't work there are other reasons and professional advice is worth considering.

This is one of the first real-sounded cases of depression I've heard about in a while, and the only thing I've found to help is being productive in some way. If you don't already have one, you could try to find a job. Working toward something helps more than you'd think. Art may help too, or maybe just hanging out with new people may help. You have any sort of public activities where you are? Sometimes there are interesting ones in your city magazine or website that'd be fun to check out. (like stain glass!)
