I should start naming these contraptions or something:
Vacuum subsonic tube train (VSTT)
Basically a large tube with a vacuum in it, The train itself would be bullet shaped (ish) while the cars are cylindrical
It would probably need some kind of electromagnetism to keep the cars perfectly centered in the tube and maybe to propel the train too
also, to ensure there is a vacuum between stations, it would have a sort of rubber membrane thats circular so it covers the inside of the tube but is sliced vertically and horizontally so that a train can push its way through without much air being able to get into the tube
Maybe with this trains would be able to reach ridiculous speeds without using as much fuel due to air resistance.
