Some fun crazy invention ideas!

Another idea that's floating around in my head:
this may have been done before but I'd like to see a hybrid car but instead of 2 engines driving the car, have a dedicated petrol/diesel engine charging the batteries (which would have roughly a 20 mile range)
The reason why is because the engine wouldn't have to move the car, thus lowering the amount of fuel used and giving more mpg than a regular car.
my logic may be flawed though so I may need more opinions on this one

modern train do this except the electric engine is huge that why (and i know these figures may not be 100% accurate i dont remeber the exact figure) they can move thousands of tons of freight many miles in a single gallon of fuel i think its some like 100,00 tons 10 miles on a gallon of fuel

I should start naming these contraptions or something:
Vacuum subsonic tube train (VSTT)
Basically a large tube with a vacuum in it, The train itself would be bullet shaped (ish) while the cars are cylindrical
It would probably need some kind of electromagnetism to keep the cars perfectly centered in the tube and maybe to propel the train too
also, to ensure there is a vacuum between stations, it would have a sort of rubber membrane thats circular so it covers the inside of the tube but is sliced vertically and horizontally so that a train can push its way through without much air being able to get into the tube
Maybe with this trains would be able to reach ridiculous speeds without using as much fuel due to air resistance.
