So.....I just realized, that I don't believe that I've ever posted an introduction, despite being a lurker on the forum for some time, and now being an semi-active member.
My real name is Jean. I'm a young adult (over the age of 18, is all I'll let out) biological male and a student hoping to become a vet or an animal behaviorist, living in the north-west of the U.S.
For the past nine months or so, I've been sort of slowly dipping my toes into the furry community, trying to see for myself what it was all about after living in a very strict and conservative family home for so long, on top of being fed a lot of the typical negative stereotypes about furs and what they do.
I'm ashamed to admit that for a long time, I believed them and thought the fandom was weird and creepy.
Though now, I think I've opened up and become comfortable enough to really take part in the fandom that I've grown so attached to.
I don't have a fursona yet. I'm still working on it and I've been slow, due to the fact that I really want it to be something special to me, seeing as I sort of connect the furry-fandom with my first step into coming out of my shell and the fact that I feel that the more that I allow myself to be myself, the more I will be able to gain a little more self confidence day-by-day. As well as finding out that I DO have a voice and the right to say how I live my life and to make my own choices without others trying to guilt or influence me to do things or act in a way that that's not me.
I hope I can make some good friends here and have the opportunity to explore the fandom more as I branch out.
I'd also like to apologize in advance for being naïve, if I don't understand things, or if I ask too many questions. I'm still learning, but I'll try not to make a pest of myself.
