On a world far beyond the reach of our sun's light, there was a mountain. Its summit was deathly cold, but its base created warm valley slopes all around. The Cliffwalkers took these lush and steep valleys as their home.

Forty-four years after they founded the cities, the earth provided the Cliffwalkers with an excellent bounty of crops. They celebrated with a month-long festival, and light and colour filled the valleys.


Yet there remained a colorless blemish, never before tamed: the Mountain itself... To protect themselves, the Cliffwalkers built a dam, a mighty wall of wood and stone, in many places around this wilderness.

Many things can change in forty-four years.

PART I: THE VILLAGE

Eliot watched the stars mix with more brilliant fragments of light after the fireworks launched. The stoat stood enchanted by their deafening crackle. The holiday season was always one worth waiting for, but this one lasted longer than any of the ones Eliot experienced before. The entire city had become a carnival.
Then he remembered the squad meeting that he was going to be late for if he didn't pay attention. He checked his watch: about an hour to go before he would report to the meeting room in the depths of the City Guard headquarters. But that seemed like an eternity away to the stoat. There was a lot to be done, he thought.

Watching each vibrant color burst and flash into glorious shapes in the nights sky, Lyzer sat there watching them explode in mad fury above the roof he had claimed for himself. He hadn't usually taken an interest in fireworks but he felt maybe he should this once.

Glancing over at clock tower he saw he may not have as much time to sit ponder as he thought, but who cares... He surely didn't. Deciding that being too late might hinder everyone else's progress he felt obligated to stand. As time grew short he went to a familiar place to see someone close to him thereafter heading out for the meeting

Nixon was a sleep on a a rock wall leaning back on it. He was awoken by a really loud fireworks. He sat up quickly and in a frantic till he realized it was just a firework. He loved fireworks as a kid. He didn't see pretty colors..no, he saw explosions that have potential for other things. He always wondered if they could blow up anything. The rock wall he sat on was in eye view of the place he was to meet people or something important. He didn't know what he was doing all he knew was whatever it was it needed to be done.

The sound of fireworks always angered Marshal. Making loud noises for what seemed like no reason just made him want to punch something. All the explosions made him think of war and destruction. He ruffled his feathers trying to ignore the booming in the distance. At least the colors were soothing.


He checked his supplies for the fifth time, making sure that he could handle most if not all situations.

He silently walked to the designated place to meet up with the others, hoping that the booming would stop soon...

 Dorian sat on a chair and watched the wonderful fireworks explode and burst into the air.
''So many colors.. I wonder if anyone just sees them as explosives that are fun to throw.''

Dorian knew he had a team he needed to meet up with soon, so he didn't hesitate.
The Jackal got up from his chaitr and began walking towards the center of the city.
''If only they told us where and why we meet up, but then again, that would ruin the surprise and make the job that much easier.''

Dorian picked up his bags and continued to watch the shiny and colorful fireworks as he walked.

Alex stood in the courtyard and watched the fireworks going off, having made sure to grab a sweetroll for what could be the last time in weeks. Savoring the doughy texture of the roll and the smooth, sugary goodness of the frosting. It was all so great, but like the first day of a hunt Alex had to leave it behind in favor of whatever the wilderness offered them. "Alright.. time for a very long time in the wilderness." Alex marched through the courtyard, his bushy winter coat already grown in and doing plenty of work on it's own to keep him warm. His heavy jacket doing the rest along with his bulky insulated bottoms. His shoes were kept in his backpack as he usually didn't wear them till his feet needed proper protection.


Navigating through the building deep inside he stopped outside the door and cleared his throat before knocking. "Hello? Alex Jace, Guide for the latest squad reporting."

Nixon heard Alex as he knock and said he was the new squad guide. Nixon looked up and saw him. He finally decided to go up and say hi. Nixon walked up to Alex. "I don't know if anyone is in there, I haven't seen anyone walk in and out those doors."

The Squad Complex 8B, within the borders of the City Guard, was one of many that housed the squads before they were to set out on their expedition.
The main mess hall was where the squadmen would meet and discuss the journey ahead. The mess hall connected to the armory, a training room, a kitchen and sleeping quarters.


The squad members waited in the mess hall for the rest of their team to arrive.


 The celebrations were over for the people who were taking the trip to the Dam. They would leave in 4 days.

Dorian is still walking towards towards the 'squad complex' and carrying his bags.
He becomes a little tired from the extra weight of the gunpowder and decides to sit and look for suspectable people.
''Hmmm, if my squad members were near by what would they look like?''

The Jackal pondered his statement while regaining hisself.
''I don't have time to waste, but once I get there I can nap for a "few" minutes.''

Dorian then set off again for the 'squad complex'.

Lyzer casually strolled into the meeting place showing no signs of urgency or care. "I squandered time and still got here before some others. Hmmm."

When Lyzer originally arrived some of the other people walking the complex gave him suspicious eyes giving him cause to be on guard. As he walked into the mess hall he saw two other people chatting together and felt the need to ask "Is this the squad going to the dam?" He said in a slightly irritated way

*Dorian finally approaches the complex and enters, only to, in the end, see a few people in the room*

Hey! You few fuzzballs here,
I am Dorian and I will be your Digger, Demoman, whatever you want to call me.
So, is this everyone?
*Dorian asked in more concerned but excited voice*

I guess that might be all of us... so far.
*Dorian carefully sat his bags on the floor*

Alex sighed seeing the slow round up and decided to get his things arranged, nodding to the fur who'd spoken to him he set his bags down and out of one of them pulled a holstered knife and belt of five rather plain looking combat knives. Strapping the belt around him he made sure each of the knives was arranged just right. Afterwards he secured the larger knife to his hip on the belt. Some of his favored weapons when he as out hunting, each had a few purposes that he felt would be needed in equal measure.


"This is it.. for now. If the others don't show up, then it's going to be very tough for us few furs."

And I might abandon this RP for the second one, just a heads up.

(Nixon followed all the others in as they entered. Watching the one complain about the size of our squad. After that was done Nixon decided to talk to each one of them to get to know them. Nixon wakes up to Alex first.) "hi I'm nix and I'm the rifleman for this squad, what did you say you were again?" (If Alex had said that earlier nix had missed it..nix does day dream some times.)

*A Facial expression of almost disbelief and hopelessness showed on Dorian's face*
Oh, I guess this might be it for us, and we haven't even started yet...

*Dorian suddenly became happy-ish and more attended*
I already introduced myself, right? Sorry for the abrupt entrance.

*Dorian then looked towards the one who spoke last*
