Prom Worries
« on: February 06, 2013, 04:34:10 PM »
I am really worried, because this is my first year going to prom. I want to make it special for my boyfriend because he is always doing everything for everyone else. I want to make his senior prom special.....something he won't regret years from now. I want him to be able to say he had the perfect night. I want to do something special otherwise....like something amazing...that he will never forget. I want him to remember his senior prom as one of the best nights of his life... Honestly, I already feel like I'm not good enough for him, but I want to do just that and change that

Well first of all, remember this important thing. Don't worry so much, relax, be calm and be confident, he'll like you being confident and sure of yourself rather than nervous. From experience as well, people don't generally like everything to be all about them, so don't make it out as if everything has to be perfect and if he is slightly upset then the night is a failure. Be calm, it'll make him calm, that's the most important thing to remember, be calm and have fun.

Remember that one ^ but as for something amazing, maybe just take him walking on the beach after if he likes romance, if not take him to his favourite bar or something and just have fun with him. For the prom maybe you could make a poem for him and such, but honestly, don't be too worried about it, relax and just stay calm and know that he does love you and he'd love just being with you.

I agree with Anoni, the more you worry and fret over it being the perfect evening, the more liable you are to succumb to your self-induced stress and feel bad about the little things. Act calmly and naturally, and know that he'll love you no matter what you have planned for him. If he enjoys little surprises like poems and stuff, then by all means consider making something like that for him, but don't do it just because you feel like you have to. Again, he'll love you regardless of what you do for him.  :)

I have to agree with Anoni and NovAurora. The last thing you wanna do is stress and panic about making every little thing perfect. If you're trying you're hardest to please him and make it the best evening of his life, then chances are you won't be having nearly as much fun. Rather than making it all about him, make it all about the two of you. Just concentrate on having fun. Relax, be yourself, and just have a good time, regardless of what happens. Try not to plan it out too extensively.

If you do wanna do something special/extra for the two of you, maybe just go out to a favorite restaurant together, or like Anoni said, go on a nice, long walk together and just talk and relax. There's also the poem thing, or if you're into drawing, make him a special picture. That's what I'm doing for my mate this V-day.  ^_^

I strongly doubt that he'll stop loving you if prom isn't absolutely perfect. My prom was a disaster, and it didn't affect my relationship with my mate in the slightest. If he's got a shred of love in him (and I'm sure he has much more than just a shred), he'll be able to laugh with you at any mishaps or imperfections, and still be able to have a good time. What's important is that you two are spending time together.

Just make sure that your time together is happy and memorable. Don't fret about doing something major. You may not know it, but being yourself, loving and snuggly is the biggest thing about prom.

(Also, I don't know about you guys, but from where I'm from (Chicago) a bowling after-party is hook, line, and sinker)

back in my day, EVERYONE went bowling after prom. it's quite a site to see. out of 100 lanes, 70 or more of them are covered in dresses and tuxedoes.

It's not his prom, silly. It's for both of you.  ;)  Just relax and don't worry about making it the greatest evening of his life. There are more important things in life, trust me.

Here's my take on it: there will be other opportunities to have amazing times with your mate. Sure, prom is a unique, one or two time event that you only get to experience in high school. However, you don't have to rely on special events like that to have a great time. Make your own dates together. If you wanna go out dancing together, or have dinner together, or go walking, or bowling (DO THE BOWLING), or whatever, just go out and do it. There's never gonna be a "greatest day of his life." But you can still have great days together whenever you want. Don't rely on prom for that.
