I was thinking that we fast forward about a half a year when a plague starts in the town. Most residence are now unable to leave because of the roads being consumed by the blight and the creatures that walk it.

I would definitely love to be part of this rp. And I have an idea for the closing of the portals.  Perhaps each portal has a dark temple on the other side powering it, and the only way to close it is from a ritual done by a priest or maybe a magic wielder. During the ceremony unread would be aware and come and try to stop it, requiring warriors to defend against the threat. This would requie pcs to enter portals as a team to try and close them.

This idea looks pretty darn fabulous, and you can definitely count me in! Say, would you mind a druidic mountain goat character who's magic is to purify the air, but not directly remove poisons from others?
The concept seems rather interesting, but would there be any way to remove the blight patially before closing a portal (Such as cleansing the area around the starting village)

Sense the blight comes from evil, any hold magic such as dispell  can clense small areas at a time. So its possible. As for the toxic gasses that the blight produces, thats a bit more tricky to get rid of, but no impossible.One more person or two and I beleave we can start. ^_^
