Connectedness to ones fursona

So I'm just wondering out on a limb how much some people think their fursona is something more to them then just a fursona. To me its more than a fursona I feel I am a fox on the inside wanting to burst out. I have tendencies like a fox as well. Also im scorpio, mars is our planet, and the fox is an astrological animal of the planet. Ive looked up some things on my fursona as you can tell. More than I'm saying here. But how close do you guys feel to your fursona? What does it mean to you? Is it just a fad, or something more?

well im not asking just that in general, more so as if people view it as just a fad in question as well. otherwise ive failed at forum rules

I understand the question and I have this to say:

My fursona is me, however I am not it.
It is a pure representation of myself only as an anthromorphic fox.

I have looked up a lot about foxes and I feel the fox best represents me on similarity of traits and associations.
For example I am smart, I am witty, I chose stealth over brute force.

Also looking at cultural interpretations of foxes, the celts saw the fox as a guide who knew the forrest as it was it's home.
The japanese saw it as a messenger from the dead.

In a nutshell, my fursona is a fox because it is the animal I most relate to, other than that he is a perfect representation of myself.

My Fursona is a representation of myself, but it's kind of more a representation of my better self. In the fandom, when imagining myself as my own fursona I feel happier, I feel like I can say more, I feel more confident and more social. I feel like I can be open about myself.

But I don't think I am actually a fox, why did I pick a fox? Because, I imagined the furry world as a society, with each fur having their own characteristics, I instantly saw a fox as the one of society who was smart, little, nerdy (in a sense) part of this society. It's the one I thought I most relate to.

Bubble boy chose a cockatoo because its a communicative bird which stays with it's mate for life.

Rangstang chose a lion because it's independent but requires social structure and is very caring for it's family and will always fight back.

I will always see you as a fox anoni but I wonder what else you could have been.
