Upgrade my graphics card?
« on: February 21, 2012, 06:16:48 PM »
They say it's not possible- the incredible feat of switching out your graphics card for a better one. They say it's saudered to my Toshiba's motherboard. But after I found out that I can't play Skyrim on my computer, I became desperate.

*Forget that it doesn't make sense I can't play Skyrim when I can play Oblivion on Ultra settings with various high-graphic mods for a moment*

How could I switch out my graphics card, if it's possible? What would be the best brand to nab?

Usually you are unable to swap the graphics cards on laptops as they are integrated chips on the motherboard, sorry :/

yeah don't even think about trying-especially if its an integrated chip. You'll just end up wrecking the whole computer. The heat from the soldering iron is guaranteed to ruin every component nearby (they're very small, so heat dissipation is next to impossible). Not only that, but have you ever tried to un-solder a chip being held down by a bunch of different solder points?
O.o
talk about a pain in the ass.

:'D those sorts of things make me smile.

Even if you had a desktop you would have to make sure that all the other components of your computer could handle the new graphics card...

...mostly they can :P

Some laptops will handle that sort of motherboard manipulation, but the cost benefits really don't outweigh the amount of trouble you go through with little guarantee since success is extrapolated too much, aside from that it usually boils down to the processor being too insignificant to handle the game better.
