The thief!!!!

So I'm in a bit of a predicament.
 
I'll explain the story as best I can:
 
My mom gave me ten dollars to bring to me to homecoming dance Friday. She said to keep it and use it. That makes it mine right?
 
I keep it in my bra all night long, and it stays there. When I come home, I put it in a very obvious place in the top drawer of dresser, where I safekeep all my money. And then I went to bed. Since that day, I have not opened my dresser one time except to put clothes away. Today, I decide to donate my money to the forum and go to get it, but it's gone! I search through the whole drawer, but I can't find it! The only one who could have been in my drawer was my mom, since she likes to snoop.
 
Am I wrong in assuming that my mom could have went in my drawer and stolen it? Is that delusional of me or am I onto something?
 
If I approach her and I'm wrong, it will bring lots of unnessacary drama that I don't need right now.
 
If I approach her and I'm right, it will solve many questions I have right now about my living situation.
 
I'm really not sure what to do. I plan on giving my room a full search, but...

What about asking her without accusing her of anything? Sorta in the lines of "I put those 10 dollars you gave me in my drawer where I usually keep my money but now I can't find them, do you know what might have happened?"

I kinda already know what she'll say, even if she did take it and that's: "Oh well! I don't know." like she did with the book that was taken from my room. I'm not sure whether her saying that or her saying "I took it because you weren't using it" would make me more frustrated....

wait..if she gave you the money then what reason would she have to steal any? (sorry if I probably missed any details, 3 hours of sleep will do that )

but you can't really jump to conclusions, just retrace your steps. I find when i accuse someone of thievery I usually just end up finding whatever I thought was stolen in some obscure place, so just calm down and dig around a bit!

Well, it turns out she did go in my drawer and take take she straight up admitted it, saying: "You weren't going to use it for what I gave it to you for, so I took it back..."

Well at least she was honest about it.

If I were you, I'd leave a note in that drawer saying "No money here, sorry!" and then find a safer location to keep my money. Like an envelope taped to the underside of your bed or something smart.

Ya... I know how you feel. I have a little sister who stole $10 worth of QUARTERS from me and thought I wouldn't notice. I almost threaten any little sibling who tries to enter my room and that usually keeps them at bay from stealing my stuff, but Puncia's right, the best way to keep your money safe is to get creative.
