MSN for Macs
« on: September 30, 2011, 02:07:51 PM »
Anyone know a decent, stable MSN messenger for Mac?

The most stable thing I've been able to use on here is a web messenger, and even that has problems. I've used Adium and Microsoft Messenger. Adium never lets me add new contacts, frequently doesn't send IMs (without any indication there was an error), and shows me as offline to several people. Messenger randomly blocks people, doesn't do offline IMs, and also often has issues trying to add new contacts. I use EBuddy as a web messenger sometimes because I at least know that shows me online and sends messages properly, but it's a pain to have to use it.

I use Trillian as my secondary MSN client on my computers plus I have the Android version on my phone.

I didn't know Trillian had a Mac version. x.x

Thanks, I'll give it a try and see how it goes.

I mostly use Adium but yeah, it's not the best. MS messenger randomly quit, or simply not responding.  I hate it. :/ Adium works fine. but i can add contact IF they are adding me to their contact list. :S
Thanks for trillian, i try it to :)

Ohh and i have other problem with MSN. WHY can't I change my name? o.O i changed with Ms messenger, with adium, on the msn live site too, but actually nothing happened. For others, it's stays what i used a year ago. :(
Sorry for my bad english ^^
Open for commisions! :)

I'd have said Pidgin but Adium uses some of the same libraries for protocol support so if you're having issues with Adium you'd probably have problems on Pidgin too (plus the OS X version of Pidgin seems to need you to either grab it via Fink, Macports or through compiling the source)
I guess trillian would be your best bet, considering.
The farewell was premature. My definite stay is not definite. The constants are variable. The greeting was too late.

Palringo isn't bad. Trillian was a tad glitchy for me on OS X but I'd say that's probably your best bet as well.
I usually use web messengers while on OS X, https://plus.im/ isn't bad but lacks some basic features.

There doesn't seem to be much out there in terms of MSN for mac though, which is disappointing. :<

Edit: "emesene" is worth giving a shot, also.
