converting people to furry?

i dont know if its possible, or if its approved or not...but i was wanting to maybe convert my mate to maybe trying out the furry life.

im all for individuality, and im not asking how to MAKE him a furry. but more to get him to...THINK about it. he already is ok with me, he thinks my yips whimpers and such are cute..he even gives me furry love, like licks and stuff.
he says that when i go to a Furcon that he would go too...i feel that he has the POTENTIAL to be a furry but he just doesnt have the want to identify himself as anything other than himself.
he is what you could call "in love with himself" and he cant imagine himself as anything other than what he is. im making him a fursona to perhaps get him more intriuged with it..he said he would like a lion dragon, so thats what im making.

i suppose my reasoning is, im SOOO in love with my furry life..and i want him to be part of it. i really think it would help me identify with him even more, and be even closer.
i was wondering what anyone had to say on this.

is conversion possible?
have you done it?
and how did you do it?

I don't believe so much in the "conversion", but more so opening themselves up to it. Conversion makes it seem more like assimilating, and I don't think the Fandom should be like the Borg x3
Pretty much what I've ever done when it comes to opening people up to it, I influence them just to sit down, think about what it'd be like, get a taste of the community and so on. But let them explore there on out. It's like teaching a child something new. You push them in the right direction, and it's up to them to either make it work, or just disregard it.

I've never actually purposely converted someone into a furry.
Closest thing to it was with Shinzuu. He wasn't a furry until after he met me. He had believed the negative stereotypes about furries (which I didn't know until way later) until I told him that I was one. He checked out the forum while I was on it after that and realized that we are reasonably normal people (haha) and realized that he was one as well.

So I'd say just have your boyfriend check things out (like on the forum). Other than that, I think you'd just have to let him discover his furry side on his own (if he does have a furry side), because he's either a furry or he's not. It's a choice. *shrug*

I've had the same issue with my mate for a while. He knows what a furry is, and that I am one, and he's even interested in it, but for some reason I can't get him to actually become *involved* in it. I tried to help him design a fursona, but he's hardly given any of his own input on it, so it doesn't "fit" him all that well. He sometimes browses the forum here and FA, but has never wanted to actually sign up for an account on either one. Some people might just want to remain more like "lurkers" than being an active part of the community I guess.

So I dunno. If you figure out how, let me know too.

i got him to sit down with me today and i put the finishing touches on his fursona..were deciding the colorscheme now even.
but i think that him participating in furry things and getting a fursona is a good start, im happy with his tolerance of the furry community and he thinks when i do furry things its cute...and HE does furry things with me too (even doesnt mind when i wear my tail out shopping with him, or hy hat with fox ears

you really can't "force" these things, some people just weren't meant for the furry life. but you can tell him that you really want to involve him more in your life, maybe you can even take an interest in his interests if he wants to check out your interests. worth a shot

it's their choice to go into the fandom or not. but for the life=lifestyle, you can tell them that a large community is around the corner

ive been wondering how to get people to join as well. my friend got his mom in to the fandom, she use to be a fan of the fandom the same with his bother. i guess the fastist way is to try to get them to be a fan of the fandom then soon they will join it. right now my dad is a fan of the fandom hes not a furry yet. but if any one has any tips on hoq to get people to join it please let me know as well because if i find a mate thats not part of the fandom i would love it if my mate joined... because iam not leaving it for no one.

Same here. My Ex- Mate (Pretty much Mate based on how we act) is cool with me being a furry, but I would like her to get involved in the community. It's partly because I want her more involved in my life. The other part is that she is rarely accepted by people, and when i first joined the community I found that furries as a whole are accepting of people. The people I introduced her to are very un- accepting of her. I just want her to be happy.

So please I would greatly appreciate any suggestions.

well i think a tolerance is a great start..so far so good on my end, im painting his fursona soon and he finnaly chose a name for it (he kept tellin me i could name it, but i said it had to come from him else he wouldnt relate to his fursona properly)  he finally decided upon Midgarin..its apparently a name he's used for a while for various things..online accounts..Xbox live..

im gonna try to regularly draw our fursona's together..perhaps get him to feel MORE involved in it, i doubt he would make an account here..since he is rarely ever online. (thats my fault, im online like ALL DAY )
but i think..that getting him to join it would really make me feel closer with him. its like.....iunno, we dont DO alot together anymore. and if he were to join in the fandom with me, id have a furry to hang with ALL the time!

lol Yeah that would be so cool. I wish Heather and I could be like that. She doesn't even really want me to make her a fursona.

well maybe you could see what her favorite animal is, and just..make one. dont even shove it in her face, just leave it layin around where she would find it and ask about it herself.
be sure to dress it in something she would love to, to perk her interests
