I don't know if this belongs in Rants and Advice...

Well as some of you may know Zaspher started a new band on saturday. I've been in 3 previous bands and I never got the chance to lead. Well here's my chance.

We played a few songs that I wrote and we sound really good. Probably the best musicians I've ever had the chance to play with.

Now one problem we need a name. All of my previous bands have had poor or undecided names.

I thought it would be a good Idea if I let my fellow furry friends help me choose a name.

I want the name to have some relevence to the fandom as well as the genres we play.

Now the genres we play are... Rock, Metal, Rap, Techno and Jazz. All are variants in our music but we have our own style. We have four keyboards so it sounds pretty electronic, we have a Rapper and a singer (A female singer).

If any of you could come up with a good name that would be highly appreciated. I'll put your name as credit on the back of our first CD.

So they're all furries or okay with the idea of having a fur related name?

It's also extremely hard to pick a good band name that relates to most of the genres you've mentioned, as they are so different. A metal band could have something powerful, fantasy sounding like Iron Savior or Powerglove or Rhapsody of Fire has. A Jazz band probably is named after the lead & Co. Or something. Rock tries to be original and deep but usually fails at it. And rap? I've no idea. Something money or dope related perhaps?

What kind of species do they relate to then? Because Zaspher & the Furs isn't really gold record sounding.

Well Danny doesn't have a fursona but he's into wolves and Hillary doesn't have one but she's absolutely obsessed with Kittys... I think she has a deviantart somewhere that can prove that XD . I think she might've been part of this forum a while back too. I'll have to ask her.

They're the only other recognizable furries at school and to my luck they were great musicians as well.

It's not very original though, to just use some other language to make it more mysterious. I'd go with an English word that is rare, rather than that.


Wolves, cats.. hm.

All I can think of right now is The Pilose Pentatonics, but it's too long and cluttered. Doesn't sound good on your tongue. But it's a step into a direction worth looking into.
I use Wikipedia, Google and of course TheSaurus.com to look things up.

I don't think I'll go with the animals because there's already a band called The Super Furry Animals and they're really popular...

I wish you all could here my music I know you would probably like it. The sad part is I don't have a computer to upload any of my CDs. I'm going to either walk to Hillary's house (But she has a slow computer) or to the library (Whom only allows their computers to be used for research. Either way it would be extremely difficult.

When I get a computer I'll post a youtube video ^_^ .

I think the best thing would be to look into it yourself. It's your name, your band, you should find something you're happy with. My suggestion is to check out http://thesaurus.com/ and such websites for inspiration.
