I am open to the idea of 2012.
Though I don't exactly think the Mayans have predicted correctly unless it's to do with why I think it could happen. The reason as to why I think the world may end, or may just be undergoing catastrophic events, is that lately there have been a serious of natural disasters around the world. What if it keeps happening at the rate it is? By December next year, there will be a lot of damage done around our globe. Since January we've had really bad floods and cyclone Yasi here just near where I live, earthquakes in Christchurch, the tsunami that hit Japan, various tornadoes over near Florida etc. in the US and now the Joplin tornado. I'm sure that's not all. So.. if mother nature keeps hitting the planet with this sort of weather, no doubt there'll be great damage some time in the next 18 months. Though I do know that 2012 may not be world's end (as much as it may be), or that these natural disasters will keep coming. Anything can happen.

However, I don't believe in the rapture or the apocalypse.

all thought in the mayan culter death meant change.  and not the end like it is seen now a days. when mayans perdicted the end it might not be the end of the world but a change to it, maybe a change in the way we think, besides all theses naturial disasters are cased by global warming and climate change.

Yeah, they are, but it could all tie in somehow. The Mayans were smart, but who knows what'll happen. x3

Two words in an equation; apocalypse = bullcrap.

Honestly, it's not going to be like everyone thinks. We may just use up all our resources and starve to death; or we could just ditch the planet and die in orbit. There's a million possibilities; it's hardly predictable. No matter who says they got word from the big guy up top, or just cried out one day "We're all going to die!", the world will end in an explainable way and at complete random.

Personally, I find it odd that it's not just the Mayans that point to 2012, other cultures that are independent of them do, too. And as one person said already, Nasa predicts that there will be more intense solar activity that could cause all of our technology go kaput in the 2012 - 2013 period. Now, I'm not saying that 2012 is true and definite, but it is odd that a lot of things point to it, in my own opinion. Honestly, I think it's an interesting subject given how many cultures and known predictions point to it.
