A request - Avian fursona
« on: April 06, 2011, 09:10:38 PM »
Hello! I'm new to the forums and the fandom in general, but I've been designing a fursona for myself and as a mascot for a musical project I intend to start sometime in the future. I was curious if anyone would like to draw the fursona I had in mind - perhaps I can get some ideas for seeing other artists' interpretations! Here's some info:

Species: Secretary bird
Gender: Male
Age: Undefined
Anthro or Feral (quadruped): Anthro
Body Type/Build: Slender
Fur/scales/body Color: See real-word pictures in links below
Eye Color: Black
Clothing: Track jacket, jeans
Accessories: DJ headphones around neck
Personality: Upbeat, assertive, jovial

Reference pictures:

I don't quite mind the jacket style as long as there's a bit of orange to compliment the orange face. Royal blue would work well as a main color. Jeans should be dark blue or black.

And another thing - I don't know the best way to incorporate hands into a bird anthro. I'd like him to be able to grab things, but I'm unsure about having his wing feathers act as fingers. Then again, having real hands would be even more unrealistic. I suppose I'll leave it up to you to decide.

Anyway, if anyone's up for it, I'd very much appreciate it! Thanks in advance!

i can try and do this for you.

Do you want arms apart from wings or arms and wings to be together

Secretary birds FTW man!  Fave bird species!

I could draw it for you, if you'll give me time to get over some scanner issues.  But sadly I can't do color or inks, just pencil :P I have no programs for any such thing sadly.  Nor colored pencils XD

EDIT: On the subject of hands, seperate arms and feather fingers have a compromise in a somewhat Pterosaur style, with a "hand" more or less in the middle of the wing, and the rest continues on from that.

Obviously it doesn't quite fit a bird, what with pterosaur wings being drastically different from bird wings, but all your call really.

Hm, let's see what you guys can do!  :)
As far as the wing deal goes, I think feathered arms with feather-like digits for fingers should work. Kind of like this: http://kyotefox.files.wordpress.com/2009/10/toastie-upload.png

Thanks for volunteering! I look forward to seeing the results!
