She got off the stand and sat besie Saphir, holding her paw and squeezing it reassuringly. "You'll be fine." She mumbled, lying her head against the rest behind her.
Saphir nodded, squeexzing bac kand nodding to her attorney. "I call forward Kat Marris for questioning."
There was a collective gasp from the entire room.
The judge glaredf at her; "How DARE you insult her spirit by callin upon her like so, you should be ASHAMED!!" He thundered, slamming his mallet hard enough to crack it.
A small human girl walked out of the crowd behid the bars and passed through them like they were nothing. "I am Kat." Her eyes found Saphir and they glowed an icy green. "Who called me?"
Saphir smiled and waved at her, a cold smile in place of her earlier frown. "I did. Sit." She stood and walked around the table; ignoring the jury, crowd and attorneys for a few seconds. "You were the one who attacked me yesterday in the Cat Bris, yes? And you also would have fought and killed me for your own reasons, yes?"
She sneered, "Duh."
The crowd gasped, someone hit the floor with a small THUMP!
"And you would have kileed all the witnesses to avoid this, yes? Taken me out, Fenz out, the barteneer, everyone no? This is what I present to you your honor." She shouted above the clamor the jury was making and sneered back at Kat. "She would have killed me for trying to be a furry during her nonfurry nightr at the bar. I would have died and she would have gone scott free. My past IS violent but for my own safety and the safety of close companions of mine have I ever had to involve any of my weapons." She turned bac kto Kat and flicked her claws gently, making a sweet chiming noise. "This agitates you, yes? As a child you loved it, no?"
Kat's face fell and she lunged through the desk to hit Saphir, it went through her. "How DARE YOU!!" She screamed, trying in vain to slit her throat.
Saphir never flinched. "And as a child, you could remeber little jaguars, wolves, hawks, andd all manner of furs playing in your town; with you. Now you despise them for being part of you, yes?"
Kat sneered and lunged again. "I HATED YOU!!" She broke into tears.
Saphir walked over, hugged her tightly and shooshed her, "I know, Little Kitty Kat." She smiled at her when Kat looked up. "Yes, I was the wolf you had as your pet and I was the one protecting you in your dreams..." Saphir held her as she cried, tears were now running down both their faces. "I held you when you were a child and I hold you now, My Little Kitty Kat. I promised you a home and a life with people who understood the shadows of your longing. Now I give it." She shouted, letting go and kissing her cheek gently.
Kat began to shimmer and all of a sudden she couldn't walk through the door anymore. "You...You...You brought me back..." Her face split into a radient grin and she knocked Saphir over. Giggling, she licked her face happily.
Saphir laughed and held her in her arms. "Now you can be my daughter, like all those years we pretended you were..."
