I stole a story! (inadvertently, of course)
« on: September 03, 2010, 11:20:16 PM »
So, I've been working my emaciated arse off on the outline for my NanoWriMo entry this year... And now there's a snag. I recently got introduced to the awesomeness of The Protomen, and after listening to both albums, and reading the notes in the cd booklets, I realise I've inadvertently stolen (in some cases word for word) their story.

So. How do I fix this? Go back and change as much crap as possible to make it different enough to head off plagiarism claims? Just get alter the coincidental quotage? Or think of, and outline an entirely new story I'm thinking of about a dude called Dan who's the most badass shooter in Purgatory who gets hired by a creepy angel to off Lucifer's generals with a totally cool bladey spinney weapon and a gun that shoots shurikens and lightning?

I'd say if you want to keep your current story you should edit it out, but if you want to keep the general idea you took from the song I don't think that is illegal as long as it isn't the same, I know I've been inspired by music before but not copying it.

But that Dan thing sounds epic ^_^

Yeah, but they made their own story to go with it.... Which I seem to have come up with also...

Eh, I'm changing some parts so they're not word-for word copies, and I think there's a scene of four they didn't use. With lots more death. And guilt. And robots.

@RighteousBro
Yeah it was epic.... I was punning - all of that stuff was from a videogame called Painkiller. Play it. Play it now. Followed by Blood, Blood 2, Shogo, and Avernum...Wait, forget the last one.
