iv got a punk band i resist the urge to cough so i get a build up in my throght and this gives me a rough, gravely voise

Me and my cousin used to always death growl and do some screaming when we were in deathcore bands. I find that drinking water all the time before singing works wonders. And it's either exhaling or inhaling that can cause some lung issues.
