How to be a furry
« on: January 29, 2010, 11:37:19 PM »
Hello, I am Gabag

most of you probably know me as that zealous human marine with a crapload of weaponry, technology, or spare clone bodies.

Now i decided to become a furry (feline cause cats rule and cause my Math teacher who is awe inspiring has 7 of 'em)

How exactly do I be a furry? I know how to be the zealous human marine, but not the cute kitty

Well this is an interesting surprise. I always assumed you were perfectly happy with your human persona. Oh well, change is good.

Now, to be a furry, generally i think the first steps is to identify the characteristics and personality of a cat that you identify with. What do you think is so great about them and how does that relate to you? Then act accordingly. Generally though, the fursona is just representing yourself as truthfully as you can create.
"Parents always think kids are wasting their youth, and always have done [so] down through the millennia," says Tom Forsyth of RAD Game Tools. "'That Ug, always holding things. His front paws will develop in funny ways. Why can't he walk on all fours like normal proto-hominids?' And so, whatever the kids spend the most time doing, that's always what parents think is a waste of time, and what is corrupting their lives. It doesn't matter what that is. If all they did was homework, parents would be worrying that their kids aren't becoming well-rounded people. And, in fact, parents do this - enrolling math nerds in karate classes and the like. There is no way to win - parental paranoia ensures that kids are always doing the wrong thing."

well, do a comedic version of your human counter-part. y'know, maybe a better description would be, be the tiny new guy.

You don't have to change your personality at all... just a change of appearance could be fitting. But if you absolutely feel you need the change, make the personality "fit" the appearance or vice-versa.

I'm talking DANGEROUS. The kinda guy who would be kept on a leash if he hadn't eaten his owners. but also fiercely intelligent, like a really animated hanibal lecter

Hehe, i used to play one of them on another forum

But, for Shiro, he is kind of my changing personality. Not like a full change, but his powers are versitile cause' i have yet to find my perfect combo.
Really shiro is me, just as a foxy

As Vosur said, having an anthro character is not much different from having a human character. But it's how you define them that makes them different, I suppose. Rigor is actually based on something I had a long time ago that was human, then it shifted to Nyx, now Rigor. The fun thing about anthros in my opinion at least is actually trying to fit things around the animal.. Like Rigor's pretty anti-social.. Well, so are dragons, hatefully so, while chameleons are more weary.. Her's is a combination of both.

Well you've done a great job. LAWL XD.

I haven't changed my fursona at all. If anything, Spike is a human who happens to be a fox. I gave him most of my old bad habits and some of my new ones. I gave him my personality and my dreams. I make him do what I've always wanted to do. I make him live the way I live. Spike is me. I am Spike without all the fox-ness (Most of it atleast :P) . I haven't changed anything about myself to accomodate my fursona. I've never really considered that there was an actual way to "be a furry." You just have to be yourself and have a love for anthros. :)
