Yeah,for the mot part, you'll be fine just splatting stuff into it without having to worry much.

Unless it's something made from non-superwash treated wool, in which case temperatures and spin cycles can cause it to shrink and felt up.

Most other things are sewn from preshrunk fabrics and should never shrink more than about 10% depending on the material. If they do, they're probably faulty.

Yeah.
Also never had issues with colours getting bad either. Besides one white shirt I had becoming a bit less white. Still looks white next to anything that isn't really white though. And I only have one white shirt so I don't care about that XD

I use a laundry ball, fill it to about 50ml if the machine is properly filled up, splat it on top of all the things, and wash things on 40 degrees if they're really dirty, or quick wash if they aren't.
Then there's stuff like towels and bedsheets and pillowcases which I like to wash at 60.
