You're correct, quantum mechanics is used in such a way, but in a more simplistic term it's simply used to explain phenomena that classic physics couldn't. Like you mentioned with the electrons not quite "revolving" in an exact pattern but instead would be near impossible to check where it was until you studied a specific location to see if it was there or not. Hence became the famous Schrödinger's cat because it is both there and not there until you look. Instead we explain in a more visual way of something like a heatmap where the electron is most likely to be will be the "hottest" areas. Some of these can actually look really cool if you can find some research notes that people have done to show it. One of my personal favorites is the contour plots of the density deviations for the oxygen atom. It's really fascinating.

But honestly, I just wanted to question reality than try to prove it scientifically.
