Actually from the staff I got to hear it was a server-side issue because there was an error with the system. It couldn't be fixed immediately because during Christmas the one who maintains the server was off to visit the family.

It explains a lot, doesn't it? And the server is now a bit more stabilized, meaning a part of the ddos-attacks get blocked. Probably redirected to a 'black data hole', a channel leading to nothing so the data just deletes itsself after a short while.
