I had a beautiful dream last night. It is too long, too epic to put into the one sentence dreams thread, so I will put it here.
It was raining, in the middle of the night. I was walking through an ancient ruin of a grown-over civilization. I had no idea what I was doing there. I had woken up there several hours previously with no memory of myself or anything. As I was walking through, I came across a wall covered in symbols. One rune, an upside-down pyramid with a line through it, was brought to my attention. I couldn't look away. Out of the corner of my vision, I saw a dark mass move. A single thought crossed my mind: run.
And so I ran. I didn't stop, not daring to look back. I came across a door on the side of a building, shrouded by vines and undegrowth. I ducked in, and seconds later a gigantic dark monster passed by. I looked around at my surroundings; the room was completely white, made of marble. There was an ambient glow around the room although there was no moon or visible light source for it to come from. The room was fairly small, with a small passageway on the other side. There was a slightly brighter glow, that of a full moon, coming from the passage.
I crawled through into a gigantic courtyard. All around me, gigantic ruins stood around me hundreds of feet tall and much wider. Huge trees untended for centuries grew in gigantic cracks in the granite floor. The ceiling was almost completely covered except for a skylight in the center of the gargantuan coutyard, shining on to a huge pool of standing water. It looked as if it used to be a fountain- a statue stood in the middle, the statue of a person. It has a human-like appearance, as if it was somebody I knew vaguely, yet there was an unusual appearance to it. The statue was covered in more symbols. Some were indecipherable, but some I could somehow read. Most of them were disjointed, but one block was understandable:
I see the cosmos stretching out before me. Great worlds being created, more being destroyed. All must come to an end in frost as all was created in fire. We have but years of existence compared to the unending millennia of existence. All shall be destroyed. All shall be reborn.
I reread the symbols several times, and as I started to confirm that I was reading them correctly, they began to glow. It was almost unnoticeable at first, but they got brighter and brighter still, to a point where it was almost unbearable. It became very warm where I was. Just as I thought that it was the end, all became dark again.
