As far as kissing goes, if that's your experience of it WWG then you haven't experienced a master (er mistress?) but I shan't go into the sordid details... but as far as purpose goes, it's to stimulate one of the most concentrated regions of nerve endings so as to produce physical pleasure and generate the release oxytocin to facilitate pair-bonding.

Kissing is a matter of subjective attachment, people do it from what they have seen as affection. And yes of course I've tried it, didn't do anything for me.


Speaking of "breakfast" related items, it's honestly my least favorite meal of the day. The most boring selection of choices.

Of course I did wonder about origins of many things, don't be such a hypocryte. Kissing just feels good, if not people woouldn't do it, would they? You're asexual, as far as I know. It may be hard to understand, but kisses could be romantic, it's not just licking each other. It's an act of...passion. Desire and usually love.

A hypocrite would be someone who does:

the practice of claiming to have moral standards or beliefs to which one's own behavior does not conform; pretense. I don't partake in these activities. Love and affection are defined by each person.

As for the hackintosh machine I intend to build in the future, I would use it for work. "Hating everything" wouldn't be far from the truth, as far as people go.

Love and affection are not relative and can be objective defined by universals in brain activiy.


The cultural spread of kissing doesn't explain it at all.  If it has an explanation it is an evolutionary one and the cultural spread of the meme serves only to support the genetic underpinning.


Apart from pairbonding as a survival adaptation which has favoured humans, there is also no doubt a sharing of bacteria which is an adaptive trait also.


Still that is its ultimate purpose, its proximate purpose of course is because it feels good.  Of course "it feels good" as a proximate cause supporting an ultimate cause of a survival trait is almost a tautology.


If it doesn't feel good then they weren't doing it right, by definition.

Ironically the liberal agenda is what drove the paradigm of the blank slate and rejection of behavioural genetics last century.  The very century to which your notions belong White.


You opinion doesn't need to change, though you should consider whether the fallacy of poisoning the well rather than addressing argument isn't enough to show your flawed reasoning.


Because without personal affection, good reasoning is one of the few cold comforts left to us. 


FYI all of my university units were connected to both the science and humanities faculties.
