Generic is the new popular in gaming, several of the old generation of developers have to work with new developers trying to appease to current generation appeal, part of which was a result of associating with casual gamers and don't even realize what they are doing. Unless another collapse of gaming occurs like in the 80s, nothing is going to change.

If it isn't broke, don't fix it. People don't really want revolutionary graphics, they want solid gameplay. But the companies trying to promote their new hardware, love to play the cards on our money, which is why Microsoft must continue to push DirectX as the standard for graphics. There is more money in "new appearance" than old style with new tricks.

I have no idea how people can be optimistic about new consoles anymore. PAX alone was largely dedicated to diversity and the concerns of feminism, seriously what happened to just talking about what matters most in a game?

Graphics ate great and all, but I'd much rather have an involving plot with growing characters. Where's the joy in a game that looks awesome, but have characters that act like they have sticks up their rear?

Also, I wish I had a pet ferret. Or a pet mouse. Our cat.  Dogs are nice too.... *goes into long winded rant about what pretty I want.
