Check back at the post, I did it, all of it was in my head (no paper, just using the TFF post, that's all my working) and i managed to do it without a mistake, I'm usually off by like 1 from some stupid arithmetic error >.>

2 + 9 *1 - 6 = 5

For lazy people

Spoiler for Hidden:
Number is 29,158.

First of all, how many digits?
1 = 1
4 = 2
16 = 3
64 = 4
256 = 5
1024 = 6
4096 = 7
16384 = 8

8 digits
29,158 - 16,384 = 12,774. First digit is 1.
4096*3 = 12,288;
12,774 - 12,288 = 486, second digit is 3.
1024 > 486; third digit is zero
486 - 256 = 230; fourth digit is 1
64*3 = 192
230 - 192 = 38; fifth digit is 3
16*2  = 32
38 - 32 = 6; sixth digit is 2
6 - 4 = 2; seventh digit is 1
2 - 2 = 0; eighth digit is 2

29,158 = 1,303,212 in base 4.
