Practise with pencil on a paper is always a good idea, the tablet is quite hard to practise with... (unless it has a pointer).
I used to draw weapons alot on paper, always draw a box-like (the base) of it first, then you can try to shape out of it eleborately. Practise and patient is the key to success! ;)
But I got problem too, always fail when try to draw a face, every single (g*d damn) time. XD
