I personally considered sewing some small Dutch flag patches to my jacket before leaving abroad, just so people would know that, if I did something considered rude, it might be because I was a foreigner... :I

Osu! has players from pretty much all over the world. So, the creators of Osu! have added the country of residence as publicly visible in-game and on the website. This made it easier for others to see who the best players are of the country, where the opponents (and teammates) you're playing with come from in case you're interested in that and, the main reason why they added this, to make it easier to find other players who live in the same country.

So, that's why I added the flag. It has become an important part of the community for such a small detail.
