I have tried black...it really doesn't look that great unless you have some of those black lights and a bunch of white dots on your walls.
Lol, I added some flashing lights and a mirror ball and blam! It was like a rave with the loud music in the back ground going.

I just painted my windows black. Took a really thick layer but it worked! No light gets in or out.
