Hi all!

The name's Leeward, I'm from South Africa. Props to Ventus Fall for encouraging me to join. I've been in the fandom for a couple of years already, but I've mostly stuck to the SA side of things, so I thought I'd give the international scene a try for once. I'm a former head community representative over at ZAFur, and I'm currently a moderator and columnist on AnthroCulture.

IRL I'm a software engineer and GIS analyst. I'm your typical nerdy gamer gal with zero fashion sense. I have a tendency to bulldoze around when it comes to people's feelings, so I apologise in advance for anything I say that might come across as insensitive; my phrasing is terrible at the best of times. That's the first reason I chose cattle as my species. The second is because back when I joined the fandom I wasn't sure what to pick, so as a placeholder I used my star sign (Taurus, duh) because I've always strongly identified with its stereotypes despite not actually believing in astrology, and it grew on me. The third reason is that I really like the Tauren race from the Warcraft universe. The fourth is the massive cow/bull/beef/milk/horn pun potential.

In terms of personal life I'm biologically female but I'm really not bothered with having a gender identity, and I'm an unprejudiced demisexual. My mate and I have been together for over 6 years now and still going strong. He's not a furry but we've designed him a fursona so that I can have someone by my side in art commissions.

That's about it. If I missed anything, I'm open to any and all questions. I have to admit I was a bit apprehensive to join here because of the much larger user base than I'm used to, so I hope I can keep up. I'm eager to meet some new friends.

Feel free to take your time to explore the various boards. If things are getting to much, I'm sure you know you can take a step back, and choose whenever you want to respond. It's all fine and dandy either way ^^

Actually "Bos taurus" is the scientific name for cattle, and the star sign is named after the Latin.

Oh yes, something I forgot to mention. Ventus very kindly shared a survey here which I put together for a freelance study I'm doing. It's not exclusively furry, but so far I've only been able to spread the word on furry platforms so I would appreciate it very much if anyone is willing to share it on the more mainstream social media platforms. It's still in preliminary stages so I'm not quite ready to publish it as my IRL self yet.
