When we see an enemy in a game we say that's an enemy, when in reality it's just a bunch of 1's and 0's represented as a some moving polygons with a couple of invisible integers attached to it. Yet we still call it an enemy. So regardless whether or not these ghosts and mysterious are programming bugs or not, we can still refer to them as "haunted" because it's assumed we are talking within the gaming universe itself, not within our own universe.
