Ok, so I was gone for some time, and I felt like writing a little xP
Chapter Two:
A Hiding Place! A Fight Begins!
Vera ran as quickly and quietly through the forest as she could, looking behind her sometimes to see if she was being followed. A tear ran down the vixen’s cheek. She wiped it away, looking more determined.
'Jonathan, I know you’ll be with us again soon...' she thought, holding the sleeping kit in her arms. Some time later, she was near a cliff. A faint sound of a waterfall could be heard. Looking around to make sure no one saw her, she started walking on a small dirt path. The sound of the waterfall got louder as she walked, eventually waking up Foxx. The young fox looked around.
"Mommy...? Where is daddy...?" he asked with a sleepy voice.
"Daddy... had to stay behind for a little while." she said in a soft voice. Foxx’s ears drooped a little, and he hugged his mother softly, his head resting on her shoulder.
"Daddy had to stay behind to fight...?" he asked in a low voice. Vera looked down for a moment, the gently petted her Foxx.
"He... he did... but he’ll come back soon, don’t worry." she replied in a soft voice.
The sound of the waterfall was now louder than ever.
"We are going into a cave to hide, ok? Daddy can find us." Vera added, when Foxx looked at her. He nodded softly. The vixen smiled and continued walking.
Some bushes were in the way, which she walked through. Foxx’s eyes widened.
They were on a big lake’s shore. In front of them was a very tall cliff, with an enormous waterfall. The water crashed on the lake’s surface with amazing force. A small fog was seen where the water fell. Although it looked powerful and deadly, it was also beautiful.
Vera set Foxx on the floor, and started picking up leafs and some branches.
"What are those for?" Foxx asked, tilting his head to one side lightly. Vera smiled and looked at him, her arms full of leaves and small branches.
"We’re going to use them as a bed, so we don’t have to sleep on the hard floor." she explained.
"Oh." he said then got a few leafs and branches too.
---oOo---
Jonathan held his blade tightly in his paw; his ears were twitching lightly. A soft breeze made the tree leaves wave softly. The fox’s tail moved with that same breeze.
"You there!" a soldier called, suddenly appearing from behind a bush. Ten or so others followed him.
"What?" Jonathan asked in a cold tone, looking at the soldier with his light brown eyes.
"You’re one of the foxes that live near the forest’s entrance, aren’t you?" he asked, pointing a long, thin, black bladed sword at the fox. However, his tone of voice was a little more cautious.
"And if I am?" Jonathan continued, in his cold tone of voice. The tip of his sword grazed the forest floor lightly, leaving a faint trail of what looked like water in the small grass.
"Then we’ll have to take you to the King, along with the other fox. If you fight, we will kill you and go after the other fox too." he said. A soft growl escaped Jonathan’s throat.
'They’ll go after Vera and Foxx, no matter what I choose…' he thought. "Then…" he started, lifting his sword and putting himself in a fighting stance. "… I shall fight!" and with that, he started running towards the soldiers, determined to protect his family.
