Peer Counseling
« on: September 26, 2008, 10:29:47 PM »
On Weds. I went to my first session of Peer Counseling with Basha, Juliano, and Cory[He was the one who invited me.]
It was truly an amazing club, everybody was so open and loving and caring with each other.
Alot of people opened up, telling their problems and many cried,
including me.

So, it brings up my curiosty to ask my fellow furs:
Have you guys ever heard of Peer counseling?
Or even attended it, or have/are in it?

I don't like telling my problems to strangers, nor do I care about theirs. I don't see how you can goto group therapy with strangers and expect them to care about your problems, theres no emotional attachment

We have a club like that in my school also, its called Genshiken.

I don't like telling my problems to strangers, nor do I care about theirs. I don't see how you can goto group therapy with strangers and expect them to care about your problems, theres no emotional attachment

Well,
the point of the club is to:
a.) Learn to be more open around people.
b.) Help Others.
c.) Help Yourself.
Or all of the above.

Whatever is said into the room of that club is not allowed to be discussed elsewhere,
otherwise that individual or individuals will be kicked out of the club,
and possibley expelled from school.

Nobody is there to judge,
you tell your problem and people are their to give you their opinions and advice.
And vice versa.

And D. meet new people

Well, I never been to those classes but I did take anger management classes and it helped wonders,  I would have probably killed someone if it wasn't for that.  I am not into telling my problems unless I need to rant ( I am supposed to, its a anger management thing, ) but I am all ears if someone needs to tell me theirs.

True true.

Also,
sometimes the best people to tell your problems to are strangers.
Because its like, you dont have anything to hold you back in a sense because they dont really know you.

I opened up about my problems at home and such,
and by the time I was done telling my story, shaking and crying,
all those people got to understand the real person that I am,
instead of the one that I portray out of Peer Counseling.

Its just a really amazing thing.

I understand that its nice to show feelings and opinions and meet new people, but I dont share my problems even with family. I don't know if there are even groups like that around here

Well, you could try looking up ones in your local area if you wanted to.

Thats up to you though, not everybody is comfortable with being in Peer Counseling.
Feelings are never wrong or right,
their just natural.
