Holly looked over the map, looking for a summer home to go to. Kai smiled lightly, closing her eyes.

[Blaiiine]

Tyler stretched out as much as he could, still holding onto the fennec. He groaned before leaning his head on his backpack.


"I don't think I'm gonna sleep.." He whispered to Kai.

Blaine yawned before finishing another energy drink and another cigarette.

"Anything yet? I'm running on empty here.." Blaine asked Holly, slowing the vehicle while maneuvering between piled up cars.

Kai nodded slightly, pressed up next to him. The events of the past days were getting to her. People were dropping like flies.

Holly shrugged, "There are a few summer homes here," She said gesturing to a road up in the mountains.

"Well, that's where we'll stop." Blaine replied, making the turn and gunning the speed.


** 15 Minutes Later **


Parked outside of a tall perimeter fence, Blaine peered out his window into the house's yard.


"Looks clear. I'll stick with the truck, you two." He said, looking to Tyler and Kai through the rearview mirror. "Find a way in and open the gates."


Tyler nodded, pulling back the slide on one of the handguns from the cabin. He opened the door, hopped out and walked quietly to the fence.


Blaine pulled the truck around to the driveway gate, shutting the engine off to lower noise.


Tyler checked the fence and found that, while tall and metal, it was still perfect to scale over.


"I can climb this," Tyler whispered, looking back to see if Kai was nearby.

Kai was right behind him, holding her knife. "Sure, I'll stay here until you get over. If anything comes, I'll keep them away." Holly looked out the window, staring out. She would kill anything coming for her sister.

[Blaiiine]

"Be careful.." Tyler said, kissing Kai quickly before climbing up the fence.


Reaching the top, he jumped down and landed in a hedge. After recovering himself, he made it to the front gate and let Kai in before the others.

The slightest blush spread across her face. Kai entered through the front gate joining up with Tyler again.

[Blaiiine]

"You feeling okay?" Tyler asked Kai, keeping a hushed tone as he crept through the yard.


Stopping at a wall, he checked a panel and hit the gate entrance button. The sound of a small engine starting and a gate moving came in distantly.


Blaine started the truck and pulled into the driveway, stopping under the carport. He climbed out and opened the back door, pulling duffel bags out.

She nodded slowly, "Fairly."


Holly hopped out, brandishing her knife and rifle hanging from her shoulder.

"You sure? You seem...well, I doubt 'lost in thought' would fit." Tyler said as he approached the front door. It was locked, but could be easily picked.

She sighed, "I'm trying best not to think." She said, pain hinting her voice. She followed him, hoping they were not hopping through another window.


Holly stalked up to them. "We might have to take this place by force, remember. They'll probably have more supplies and weaponry, siege tactics won't work. I suggest one or two of us sneak in, kill the inhabitants and maybe wring a little information out of them... If there are any inhabitants."

"Yeah, yeah, yeah. Kill 'em all, blah blah." Tyler replied, having picked the door Iock. Taking his pistol out, he tapped the door with his boot and it creaked open.


Stepping in, the house was quiet and messy. Clothes were strewn about the stairwell, pictures were knocked over and cabinets were hung wide open. .


"Seems quiet," Tyler said, being cut off by Blaine loudly groaning in the back of the house. He seemed to have found a way in before they had. "Well, mostly. You wanna help me clear the second floor?" Tyler asked, turning to Kai.

Holly stepped in, prowling around the first floor with her knife. "Seems like they left in a rush. Or were killed,"


Kai nodded, crouching to pick up a picture. She looked at it, wondering what their life might have been like.

Tyler went up the stairs, gently holding Kai's paw as they ascended to the second floor. He paused, choosing which hallway to check first. Deciding on the third doorway, Tyler slowly stepped down the hall with his paws retreating to his coat pockets.


Blaine finished hauling the bags into the kitchen, shutting and locking the patio doors behind himself. Kicking his boots off, he tore his coat and shirt off as he panted.


"Ugh, too freaking hot." He mumbled as he sprawled out on the living room's small, leather couch.

Holly shrugged, she wasn't able to feel heat well. Kai followed Tyler, up the stairs, knife in hand. She stopped at the first doorway, and put her ear to it silently. She was listening for bangs or the scuffle of walking, yet found none.
