What's that one album that brings back fond memories?
« on: February 23, 2017, 08:38:14 AM »
Er. I guess it could be anything. I've got plenty, myself!

I could mention KISS' Destroyer or something, but this post came up because I found the soundtrack from 1991 "Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego" by Rockapella.

And I used to watch/play/listen to the show/game/music ALL the time as a kid.

And our family wore the heck out of the cassette tape in our vehicles when doing family vacations, because it was so perfect between explicitly WITWICS songs and the others on the album.

So when I hear the music I remember all my childhood trips, and when I think of those trips, I think of their music too. <3

And it reminds me that I really miss the Ponderosa Ranch being open. ;_;

for me has to be
Slayer's 1986 album "Reign in Blood"

it was the first album I ever bought, and it was also the same album that got me to listening to metal (next day I bought "Spreading the Disease" by Anthrax, "Peace Sells... But Who's Buying" from Megadeth and "Master of Puppets" by Metallica)

I still listen to it a lot, it's so hard to skip any songs, all are so good, and don't know where to start

"Raining Blood" and "Altars of Sacrifice" and "Angel of Death" are my most favorites on the album (in that order)

Long ago I used to be a fan of Grand Theft Auto game series, and when I played first with GTA Vice City, one of the first songs I heard on the game's radio station VRock was "Raining Blood" made me love the game just for it, discovered a few other bands along the way. By today I don't even own the consoles or play the games.

The Mighty Mighty Bosstones' album, "Let's Face It".

I used to listen to ska throughout high school, but this album reminds me of senior year which was the best year of high school. And even before I often listened to that album, TMMB got me into a lot of older ska bands like the Specials and even some third-wavers the Toasters, Pietasters and Sublime.

Nowadays, I listen to more surf punk and older Canadian indie bands but I still have a soft spot for "The Impression That I Get" and "Another Drinkin' Song".

This one, definitely

My mom loved Cher, so every trip to my Grandpa's house (through the mountains from one end of the Rockies to the other, about 5 hours) most of the music we played was Cher. This one always was the first CD we played, and at home I would listen to it while drawing. It's still one of my favorites, I don't have a single song I don't like from that album.

Alanis Morissette -- Jagged Little Pill

I had the cassette when I was young and would go to bed with it playing in headphones.  I listed to that sooooo much.

My mom had that album when I was a wee lad. Still remember running around the apartment while that album and Fiona Apple played.

most any Pink Floyd... but Dark Side of the Moon and the Wall make more sense than the others as album/stories

The Gorillaz' album Plastic Beach is just ... full of nostalgia for me. It reminds me of my 8th grade year and the days of me figuring out myself. I really just love it and I think I have a funny or cool story for just about every song on there!
