Yes, to be honest if someone breaks into my house, I'm the closest to the gun then everyone else. Flip the lock, aim and shoot them in the arm and the foot if he tries to get away, tie him and call 112 (Portuguese 911 version). It never happened and hopefully never will, I think how I'll do when it happens, will I just freeze? I hope not.
