Should I try to learn Spanish or German first?

I plan on learning American Sign Language at some point as well.

Deutsch is like the second hardest language (first is Polish), because I need to learn it at school.

Although I had a slight head start with German, I think I might learn Spanish first because it will be more useful here.

I heard from my friend that Japanese is easy on speech. That's writing, which is hard

German isn't too bad. It's closer to English than Spanish so some things are easier to learn. Though the grammar can be a little difficult at times(three genders, why?  ). But that's true for most foreign languages one learns I think. I agree though, at least where I live, Spanish is a little more useful. I'll probably try to learn a little bit once I'm done with French classes.

Also I've been trying to learn Japanese too, and while learning the hiragana/katakana alphabets is easy enough, there's still a couple thousand kanji

German's easy since there are a lot of cognates, but grammar can be kind of confusing.


Any language is useful.

I'd love to major in linguistics, or at least be able to put my hobby of trying to learn foreign languages to use.
I personally find I'm better at reading/writing them, since I'm still not a very good/confident speaker :p
