A dog refuses to breath trough his nose
« on: August 11, 2015, 01:56:58 PM »
Well I have to take care of a dog, This is the second time I take care of him. Now the problem, he doesnt breath trough his nose never, only when he hears somehing or when he's sleeping but otherwise he just doesn't. He isn't warm, or tired or anything.

First time I took care of him I thought he had a cold or something, (it was winter back then) but now its summer and he still breaths loud. Kinda like he took a long run but then always.

He isn't afraid or scared he is really happy so he isn't anxious or anything.
It seems he just doesn't want to
Is there any reason why he doesn't want to because his breathing is heard trough the whole house and it gets kinda annoying after 3 days + I wanna know if he is healty.

What breed of dog is it? "Flat-faced" dogs like pugs sometimes have a hard time breathing.

There may be something wrong, like permanent damage from sickness. Regardless, if it's a big concern, I'd consider taking it to the vet. Better safe than sorry.

More then likely it has sustained damage to it scent recepters. Dogs scent receptor are, as im sure you, a thousand time more powerful than a human. When they are damaged they never fully heal so breathing through the nose can be uncomfortable

Just took him for a walk he sniffs all around so I'm not sure if its because his scent recepters are damaged or somehting eitherway Ill take him to the vet as soon as possible,

Dogs normally sniff all around, it's there main form of detection as their sight is not very good
