Can you survive The DISTANCE?
« on: May 06, 2015, 11:06:25 PM »
Distance is survival racing game made by Refract studios. I'm advertising it here, because not everyone might be using Steam, where it was on the frontpage several times (and also because I love it).
But what is survival racing you might ask. Well, you drive at very high speeds trying to avoid obstacles. Your car is eguiped in boosting system, which overheats rather than ran out, jumping ability, wings and side thrusters. (You can also drive on walls.) Game also utilizes stunt system, which cools down your car and all of HUD elements, except tooltips and notifications, are displayed on the back of your car.

It starts calmly, teaching you the basics and becomes more and more challenging with time.
All maps are open and checkpoints are optional, giving you possibility to look out for shortcuts.
Best players will boost all the way from start to finish using stunt system, since checkpoints are sometimes far enough to make you run out of boost (yyy, I mean overheat).
It also gives the player a little bit of customisation: you can change your car's colors that are visible both on single- and multi-player.

Keep in mind it's still in development, but current version is highly playable.

It's avalible on Steam (http://store.steampowered.com/app/233610), DRM-less (https://www.humblebundle.com/store/p/distance_storefront) and coming soon on PS4.

Not sure, if you're gonna like it? Wanna give it a try before buying, but there's no demo avalible?
Look no more.

Nitronic Rush is a prototype based on pure C++, which defined what Distance is today, made by same team (but under different name) and it's avalible for FREE!

*X360 controller recommended for both games
