The fox turned around again to find the previously he had previously slain alive and still trying to attack him. He had put down his crutch to address his leg, but as he tried to pick it up, the person scratched his arm and threw the bar out of his reach. As it descended on him, a sudden crack ricocheted through the tunnel, and the person toppled over yet again, but this time permanently, a puddle of blood coming from its chest.
Looking around for the source of his sudden luck, he saw a figure coming from the other side of the sewer. He hid around the corner, choosing to ambush it. He heard its footsteps walking towards his spot, making small splashes in the water. He saw an arm reach over and take the pole, and he jumped on it before it saw him.
"What the-!"
He ceased clawing at the person at their exclamation and backed away. It was a female human in almost as bad shape as he was, and probably would look better if he hadn't attacked her.
"Sorry about that. I thought you were those" He said, gesturing towards the corpse. "What is that even??"
She looked at him, still surprised from the sudden ambush, and just managed to get out- "I thought you were a zombie..."
"A what?"
"A zombie, like a person infected with Escherichia Cerus. You know."
"Actually I don't"
"It's an extremely contagious blood-carried virus that infects the nervous system, leading to partially-dead hallucinating people with the single intention of spreading the virus. There was a recent outbreak of it a few months ago. I'm guessing you're one of the people who lost their memory?"
"Yes. How did you know?"
"Well the main method for transmitting the disease is through blood exchange, such as biting or cutting someone. That usually infects them quickly. Another, rare method is prolonged proximity to the virus, which has a much slower effect, and one of the first signs of this is sudden memory loss. Where did you come from?"
He motioned to the crater about a mile away in the other direction. "Do you know what that is?"
"I don't know either. I've been traveling for the last several days to get here. I'm not that knowledgeable about this city. By the way, the only reason I'm helping you right now is because we need to stick together against this infection"*(see bottom of post)
"Well thanks for that. What's your name by the way?"
"I don't really know. I swear I knew it just a few minutes ago. Maybe it'll come to me later."
"Well let's go up and check out that surface."
They slowly climbed the rusty ladder to get to the top of this wasteland, and were prepared for whatever would greet them.
*In this universe, it's Earth about 200 years in the future. In the time in between, the furry fandom got larger and larger, and non-furries had more and more hatred towards furries. One day, only a few weeks before the virus first spread, every member of the fandom turned into their fursona, along with a change of many fundamental aspects of their brain that make them act more like the animal they turned into. Non-furries generally avoided them and would criticize any near them by that time. However when the virus spread they began to band together and be less hostile for a reason you could probably guess. By the way, I never said this is the same universe that you are RPing in.
[I know a lot of stuff here goes away from what a regular RP would be. Don't worry. I have a whole thing that I'm going to do that I've thought through.]
