It's too difficult to say what my favourite game of all time would be, but here are a couple of good ones. These were my favourite games based on time periods.
1. Minecraft (My favourite game from 2010 - 2012)
Although I haven't played minecraft in a very long time and no longer really enjoy playing it as much, no game has been as influential to my life as minecraft. I joined the game at alpha stage and joined a gaming clan on it, I rose up the ranks of the gaming clan and eventually became leader of it. At it's peak the clan had over 4,000 registered users and three active servers spanning different games. Minecraft brought me closer to hundreds of new friends, a taste of real responsibility and a little bit of internet fame around a small community.
2. Grand Theft Auto IV (Favourite game from 2008 - 2010)
Although Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto San Andreas are, overall, probably more superior games than GTA IV, I simply had more fun with GTA IV because of it's awesome online multiplayer. I would spend hours and hours every day simply going around freeroam servers shooting random people and blowing up cars. I met friends that I'd play with every day, had dramas with well known hackers (some of which I got banned) and just became a true community member of the game. GTA V might of given me the same result, but unfortunately it wasn't released on PC and thus I didn't have as much motivation to play it.
3. Sonic Adventure Battle 2 (My favourite game from 2004 - 2008, although I played it before then)
This game is most definitely my favourite sonic game and perhaps one of my favourite games of all time. A game that I would play hours and hours on end with friends, switching turns every level, was made even more fantastic by it's surprisingly dark story and awesome characters (introducing Shadow to the gaming world). The best feature of the game which, surprisingly, no other sonic game has copied was the ability to raise choa. It was a true fit of competitive gameplay between my brother, my friend Chris and I to raise the best choa, I was in charge of the Hero garden, my brother being in charge of the Neutral Garden and Chris being in charge of the Dark Garden. The best part about raising the choa is we looked up [nothing] on the internet and the game tells you very little about what to expect, so you'll often find new things happening that surprise you! To think this game simply came with the gamecube and I never thought I'd enjoy it.
4. Halo: Combat Evolved (2001 - 2004)
I remember looking up videos of Halo before the likes of youtube existed, I remember gasping at the "absolutely astounding photorealistic graphics" of halo, I remember dying from grunts my first time playing. Halo has truly been THE pinnacle FPS in my life, the one that has topped all others and probably will remain topping any other first person shooter for a very long time. Halo has given my friends and I countless fun, from the countless cooperative legendary games to the hilarious mutliplayer games we've had an absolute blast. We pretty much always skipped the Library, we became super invested in the lore and literally from the whole of 2001 to 2004 the game we played most, all day, every day, whenever friends arrived or whenever we were alone, was halo. Halo was the definitive game of my childhood and for that it will always give me a fit of nostalgia whenever we played. PROTIP: Halo is much better playing coop.
5. Duke Nukem 3D: (FIRST-STARTED-GAMING - 2001)
The game that started it all in gaming was probably Duke Nukem 3D. Although I was very young when we were playing, only probably about 5 or 6, I remember playing cooperative with friends and just having an absolute blast. We would always play a game, and to me it just has a special place as probably my very first FPS. Duke Nukem to this day still give me absolute nostalgia when I play either the titles 1,2 or 3. It's a bit of a shame Forever wasn't as good as I would of hope for, but I still played it from start to end because it was the duke.
2012 - 2014 has been a bit of mixed bag. I haven't been gaming as much unfortunately and I've almost completely stopped gaming socially, I hope to try and change that though with playing more online games with friends. Though honestly, I just want to invite some people over and have a LAN sesh or something, in December I'll be getting a new computer so I could set up my old comp and we could play in the same room! LIKE THE OLDEN DAYS. Still though, my current favourite game would have to be Civ 5 probably, but I'm still quite new to it so that might change.
