The strangest thing...
« on: March 07, 2014, 04:02:58 AM »
I know its probably gonna be hard to believe, but I will tell you anyway. There's this user on FA named sugarmable. Oh, well, it's kinda of a long story, but i'll tell you anyways. See, couple of years ago, When I was still learning more about the furry fandom, I found out about babyfurs. So this got me thinking about drawing some. This was before I started drawing other characters, like brenda. So I was drawing other kinds of species of animals as babyfurs, One of them was chinchilla and the other was a badger. When I finished drawing them, I kinda lost interest in drawing them soon, but I kept them in a safe place where I would never lose them, there that's when I started drawing brenda later on. And shortly after I formed my FA(RayLee), I started to search around to see what was cooking, that's when I found this user named sugarmable, and she had two characters that looked similar to the first two babyfur drawings I drew, its names were darla and dallas. At first, I didn't know about that, then later, my memory came back and quickly took out those two drawings from my portfolio, and then I was shocked to see another user draw the exact same characters as mine(They were unnamed, but I sorta remember that I named one of them lucy, not sure which one, though). Anyways, Not only I was shocked, but I felt kinda pissed, I couldn't help it, I was gonna report her to the admins about, but they would think I would be lying or something, so I just kept it secret. But I was still dissapointed about it, but I couldn't blame sugarmable about it, I figured she'd just created the characters without knowing that I created them first. And if I tell her about it, she'd think I'd be lying too. I know it's probably mere coincidence, but I still think it's unfair for using characters I created first, even if the person doesn't know it. So, I thought you could help me out on this, if you don't mind. I'm already getting help from some friends of mine, but you can still come on board if you want, it be more support.

Anyways, here are the original drawings that I mentioned, but the pictures I taken of them are recent. They have a VERY different style, since this was shortly before I joined FA.(I had old account named hachistudioscoltd.) Also, I tried my best to keep them in good shape, but ended getting wrinkled, had some water spilled on, and even some parts ripped.(As you see in one of my drawings.)

Here they are:

And here are the characters that the drawings were based off of done by sugarmable that I'd mentioned about:

This sounds like a far fetched idea but i'm thinking you could ask sugarmarble where they got the ideas / inspiration for drawing those two characters.

I could but, but it still won't help the matter that she drew two characters that I created before her, whether she didn't know or not.

Well, do you think she would believe you if you showed her your age old babies?
Do you remember when you drew them?

Well, I drew them before I made an FA, my old account was hachistudioscoltd, later I moved on to my new account, RayLee. So, It was around 2010 when I first drew them, sugarmable didn't join FA until last year.

Also, if you can't open the dropbox files, you can see them here:

Like I said,  the pictures I taken of them are recent, but the pics are kinda old, They have a VERY different style, since this was shortly before I joined FA.(I had old account named hachistudioscoltd.) I'd say to let it slide; it's not really harming you directly, even if you do feel a bit cheated.

If it really bugs you, just avoid seeing sugarmarble's page, it's best not to start fights. :P

Please  note the "support" forum is for technical problems with the website, these problems should be directed to the helpdesk for admins to review and possibly fix. The support forum is not to post problems you have outside of TFF, or personal problems, these should be directed to Rants and Advice.

Look, I know this maybe seem rather impossible to believe, but after all of this, I'm thinking of finding a way to own those characters again, whether sugarmable likes it or not! Like I said, I'm already getting help, but it be better if I had extra, though i'm guessing that this will have to be taken up at FA.

If there is no way she could have seen your drawings before creating her characters, what makes you think they were stolen or ripped off yours in any way?

To be honest, a "young badger girl" and "young chinchilla girl" are very general character ideas to be claiming that they're stolen in any way. Now if it was a young badger girl with a specific backstory and specific unique markings and specific colors and specific personality traits that all exactly matched yours, that might be another thing. But you don't own all the rights to make a young badger or young chinchilla character, and neither does SugarMable. Nobody does. It seems extremely unlikely that this is anything but a coincidence.

I'm sorry.
« Reply #13 on: March 13, 2014, 05:56:58 PM »
I hope all of you are are not too mad, because I wanna apologize badly. And it's okay if you don't believe sugarmable has copied off characters that I didn't explain well, I probably tried to make you look like a bitch in this situation in the first. Look, I will tell why I was making such a big deal out of this whole thing.

See, a similar situation happened to me a year back before you joined FA. I created this character a named omega dog. He's a superhero-type dog character. Apperantely, it wasn't until one day, there was this jackass who started squealing at me for ripping krypto the superdog and ultraman(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ultraman). Then that jackass tried to get me into trouble and even started threatening me and even said I had no originality and no talent. He even even insulted me a LOT, to the point where he even said he was going to kill me! I'm serious. And I was dumb enough to believe him that I became kinda depressed and thought I was gonna be screwed big time. I was even thinking of just giving up furries and my art. That was until one day, this user came by to save my ass, and with his help, we got that bastard booted off of FA, and I never got to see him again. But this affected me very much, and ever since then, I made sure I never tried to draw anything that didn't have a lot of similarity or even looked like I ripped off because I knew that there was gonna be some idiot on the web and try to get me in trouble again. That's why I came up with the conflict I was talking about, because I felt that if there was some drawings that looked similar to yours, and that if I uploaded them online, I would get squealed at again by some dumbass(whether its a troll or not) and he/she would get me in trouble and would threaten me as well. So I'm sorry if I tried to point fingers to sugarmable on a useless act, and sorry to bother you all with my little rant. I just didn't wanna go through the same shit over again, and I guess I got a little too carried over. So all in all, I just hope you understood.
